I think finally, almost 24 hours later, I'm recovered from yesterday's kendo practice. After not going for a few weeks, because the school was using the gym for something else, I got really out of shape. Also contributing to my aches and pains, yesterday was the first time I got to use my keikogi and hakama (kendo uniform) and my shinai. Previously I couldn't use my shinai in practice because it needed to be smoothed down and oiled (so it doesn't shatter).
A funny side note on the natural dyes used on keikogi (the "shirt"). Because they're dyed with natural dyes, you're not supposed to wash your keikogi too often. However I found out last night that if you don't wash it at all before you wear it, the dye comes off on you. Natural dye + sweat from workout = blue body paint. I think I could have joined the blue man group. And because my sweat pulled the dye into my pours, I'm still a little blue even now.
In other news. I found out (actually was reminded) that on Monday the 28th the JLSP class gets to visit Fuji film and Asahii breweries. One of the JLSP lecturers has friends in all sorts of high places and was able to arrange the tours. Since Fuji film and Asahii are close to each other (location wise) we can do both on the same day. The teacher says he tried doing Asahii first in years past, but it didn't work out so well, so we'll be doing the Fuji film tour first.
